Like the state’s schools, the South Dakota church services have also been suspended.

Many local churches have turned to computers for worship opportunities. Ministers are talking in Facebook or other apps. One Aberdeen church is planning a drive-in service.

Pastor Justin Dauck of Roscoe’s St. Paul’s Evangelical Church says you can join their online service at http://www.stpaulsroscoe.com/watch. The new and archived services can also be seen on YouTube.

First Baptist Church of Ipswich Pastor Dan Kuno delivered a message from his home in Ellendale, N.D. via Facebook. The service can also be viewed later.

Catholic Masses

Catholic Bishop Donald DeGrood has directed that all public worship services and Catholic Masses are suspended until further notice.

Due to the arrival of the COVID-19/Coronavirus to South Dakota, the Bishop has determined it prudent and a just cause to dispense all Catholics within the state’s borders from the obligation to attend Sunday Church Services and to encourage social distancing in accord with the directives from the CDC and South Dakota Department of Health.

This suspension took effect on March 18, 2020 and includes all gatherings for social and educational purposes in Catholic facilities. It will remain in effect until further notice.

During this time of concern with Covid 19, the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is dispensed for Catholics. Special provisions are in place for funeral services. The Church offers the televised Catholic Mass - available on SFCATHOLIC. ORG or on KELO-TV across South Dakota. Church members are encouraged to pray for the protection of the infirm and vulnerable and for healthcare and civil servants who continue to serve us.
