Ipswich Hometown Holiday Weekend Dec. 10-12

This gingerbread village is part of the Lighted Lane set up in Ipswich near the Avantara Ipswich nursing home and the baseball field.

Plans are in full swing for Ipswich Commercial Club's fourth annual Hometown Holiday Weekend, planned December 10-12.

Many businesses and organizations are planning specials and treats for this three-day event. Hometown Holiday Weekend flyers can be found in next week's Ipswich Tribune.

Some of the activities planned include:

• Gingerbread House Contest - open to all ages. Bring your completed display to the Edmunds County Courthouse Community Room by noon on Friday, Dec. 11. Prizes will be awarded.

• Holiday Spirit Contest for students and staff of the Ipswich School. Make plans for the contest, which will be held on Friday, Dec. 11. Prizes will be awarded in various age divisions.

• The Lighted Lane decorations can be seen in the area of Avantara Ipswich nursing home and south of the Ipswich baseball field.

• View the Christmas trees in the Courthouse Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday


• The annual Highway of Hope Holiday Vendor Fair will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Father Bormann Hall in Ipswich. There will be a children's carnival from 10 a.m. until noon and then Santa will visit at noon.

• You can win $100 Ipswich Business Bucks. Sign up at the participating businesses Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
