Edmunds County 4-H Members exhibited over 60 static exhibits at the 2021 South Dakota State Fair in Huron last week.

4-H members received the following ribbons on their static exhibits:

Several members also participated in Special Foods, Public Presentations, and Fashion Revue Youth in Action Contests.

Grayson Beyers, Hannah Beyers, and Lincoln Beyers were in the Special Foods Contest. Grayson received a blue ribbon for his Chili, Hannah received a purple ribbon for her Lasagna, and Lincoln received a blue ribbon for his Meatballs.

Participating in the Public Presentation and Fashion Revue was Kaidence Bulgin. She received a blue ribbon for constructed shorts and a blue ribbon for her illustrated talk "What's in My Box?"

Participating in the Consumer Decision Making Contest was Senior Bridget Fuhrmann, who received a blue ribbon.

There were 61 livestock exhibits representing Edmunds County. They had several members who were awarded top honors in their division. Grand Champion Awards were won by Senior Brady Beitelspacher-Crossbred Division 1 Market Steer, Senior Bryce Beitelspacher-Maine-Anjou Market Steer, Haleigh Holt-Chianina Breeding Heifer and Charolais Breeding Heifer, Maggie Holt-Commercial Breeding Heifer, and Jacob Jung-Hampshire Market Swine. Reserve Champion was won by Charli Rawden-Mini Hereford Breeding Heifer, Kathryn Kilber-Targhee Late Spring Ewe, Rylee Payne-Recorded Grade Dairy Goat 5 or Older Doe, and Lux Heinz-Red Ranger Roasters. Grant Fischer received Best of Breed with his French Lop Senior Buck. Reserve Best of Breed was won by Grant Fischer for his French Lop Senior Doe and Jillian Fischer for her Polish Senior Buck.

There were seven entries in the Breeding Beef Class. Sydney Holmes received a purple ribbon for her Shorthorn Plus Breeding Heifer and was second in her class. Haleigh Holt received purple ribbons for her Charolais and Chianina Breeding Heifers. Maggie Holt received purple ribbons for her Hereford and Commercial Breeding Heifers. Kale Pharis received a purple ribbon for his Percentage Red Angus Breeding Heifer. Charli Rawden received a purple ribbon for her Mini Hereford Breeding Heifer.

Market Beef had seven entries. Brady Beitelspacher received two purple ribbons for his Crossbred Market Steers; Bryce Beitelspacher received purples for his Crossbred Market Steer and his Maine-Anjou Steer. Caleb Johnson received a purple ribbon and was second in his class with his Crossbred Market Steer. Gabe Johnson received a purple and was first in his class with his Crossbred Market Steer. Jacob Jung also received a purple for his Crossbred Market Steer and was fourth in his class.

Registered Breeding Meat Goats had two entries. Kale Pharis received a purple and a blue ribbon.

Breeding Sheep had seven entries. In the Targhee Division, Brady Kilber received a purple ribbon for his Early Spring Ram, blue for his Fall Ewe Lamb, and a purple for his Late Spring Ewe. Kathryn Kilber received a Purple for her Late Spring Ram, purple for her Fall Ewe Lamb and Purple for her Late Spring Ewe. In the Baby Doll Division, Jillian Fischer received a purple for her Late Spring Ewe.

Market Sheep had two entries. Sydney Holmes received a blue ribbon for her Crossbred Market Ewe and two red ribbons for her Crossbred Market Wethers.

Breeding Swine had one entry. Jacob Jung received a purple for his Spotted Breeding Gilt. He was also third in his class.

Market Swine had three entries. Jacob Jung received a purple ribbon and was fourth in his class with his Crossbred Market Barrow, a purple ribbon and second in his class with his Duroc Market Barrow, and a purple ribbon and first in his class for his Hampshire Market Gilt.

Dairy Cattle had two entries. Kaleb Scherr received a blue ribbon for his Spring Heifer Calf, and Kendra Scherr received a blue ribbon for her Spring Heifer Calf.

Dairy Goat had seven entries. Rylee Payne received purple ribbons on her Recorded Grade 5 or Older Doe and her 2 Year Old doe. She also received blue ribbons on her Recorded Grade Senior Doe and Senior Doe Kid. Kaydence Payne received blue ribbons on her Recorded Grade 3-5 Year Doe, Senior Doe Kid, and Senior Yearling.

Poultry had 11 entries. Alexis Fischer received a blue ribbon for her Australorp Cockerel. Grant Fischer received a blue ribbon for his English Cockerel. Jillian Fischer received a blue ribbon for her English Cockerel. Lux Heinz received purple ribbons for his Heavy Goose, Lakenvelder Bantam Pullet, and Red Ranger Roasters and a blue ribbon for his Buff Chancellor Bantom Cockerel. Mac Heinz received a purple for his Lavender American Puller, blues for his Buff Naked Neck Cockerel and Red Ranger Roasters, and a white for his Barred Rock Cockerel.

Rabbit had 12 entries. Alexis Fischer received purple ribbons for her Holland Lop Senior Buck, Senior Doe, and Netherland Dwarf Senior Buck. She also received a blue ribbon for her Netherland Dwarf Senior Doe. Grant Fischer received purple ribbons for his French Lop Senior Buck and Senior Doe, and blue ribbons for his Polish Senior Buck and Senior Doe. Jillian Fischer received purple ribbons for her French Lop Senior Buck and Senior Doe, a purple ribbon for her Polish Senior Doe, and a blue for her Polish Senior Buck.

Several members participated in the Showmanship contests. In Beef Showmanship Brady Beitelspacher received a blue ribbon, Bryce Beitelspacher-blue, Sydney Holmes-purple, Maggie Holt-purple, Haleigh Holt-blue, Jacob Jung-Purple, and Charli Rawden-purple. Jacob Jung received a blue ribbon in Meat Goat Showmanship and a purple in Swine Showmanship placing sixth overall. In Rabbit Showmanship Alexis Fischer received a blue ribbon, Grant Fischer-blue, and Jillian Fischer-blue. In Sheep Showmanship Sydney Holmes received a blue ribbon and Kathryn Kilber received a purple ribbon and placed fourth overall in Junior Sheep Showmanship. In Poultry Showmanship Beginner Lux Heinz received a purple ribbon and Mac Heinz received a blue ribbon. In Rabbit Showmanship Juniors Alexis Fischer, Jillian Fischer, and Senior Grant Fischer all received blue ribbons. In Dairy Cattle Showmanship Junior Kaleb Scherr and Beginner Kendra Scherr each received blue ribbons. In Dairy Goat Showmanship Beginners Rylee Payne and Kaydence Payne received blue ribbons.

Katie Preszler also attended the State Dog Show. She participated in four events: Agility on Leash-Purple, Novice Obedience-Blue, Rally Advanced A-Blue, and Open Senior Showmanship-Blue.
