HUNGARIAN PARTRIDGES
L. W. Freitag on whose farm the state game department liberated ten pairs of Hungarian partridges two years ago, reports that these birds are multiplying rapidly. He has seen several young covies this summer, one numbering fifteen birds. With proper protection these birds should be plentiful enough to warrant an open season within a few years — Faulkton Advocate.
The above is encouraging news for Ipswich territory as twenty pairs were released in the Ipswich Game Preserve last spring. Farmers report having seen some of the birds from time to time but no covies have been reported. It is hoped that these splendid game birds and exterminators of insects will be given every chance possible to multiply and eventually become as plentiful as the pheasants.
