Local shooters compete at State Shoot

Twenty Edmunds County Shooting Sports members attended the State Shoot in Ft. Pierre on April 22-24.

BB Gun participants, their scores, and ribbon placings are as follows:

• Beginners - Ashlyn Heilman, 331.5-Blue, Bailey Heintzman, 295-Blue; Alec Holien, 240-White; Kyler Holien, 266.1-Red; Ben Hoyle, 321.6-Blue; Isabelle Morales, 228-White; Kalynn Oban, 302.3-Blue; Adelyn Pollock, 285-Red;

• Juniors - Grayson Beyers, 290.2-White; Lincoln Beyers, 290.1-White; Sydney Holmes, 320.2-Red; Nevaeh Moser, 326.2-Red;

• Senior - Hannah Beyers, 350.5-Blue.

There were two beginner teams; one received blue and the other red ribbons. The junior team received red ribbons.

Air Pistol participants, their scores, and ribbon placings are as follows:

• Juniors - Lincoln Beyers, 100-Red-Rapid Fire-28-White; Emerald Wittmeier, 127-Red-Rapid Fire-78.1-Purple;

Senior - Hannah Beyers-91-White-Rapid Fire-24-White.

Emerald Wittmeier placed first in the state with her score of 78.1 in Air Pistol Rapid Fire.

Archery participants, their discipline, scores, and ribbon placings are as follows:

• Beginner - Ben Hoyle, CWOS67-White;

• Juniors - Lincoln Beyers, CWSR-116.3-Red; Seth DeRaad, CWSR-109.1-White; Alexis Fischer, CWSR-133.9-Blue; Jillian Fischer, 118.1-Red; Emerald Wittmeier, 133.4-Red;

• Seniors - Hannah Beyers, CWOS-74-Red; Caleb Johnson, 146.14-Purple; Gabe Johnson, CWSR-131.3-Blue; Grant Fischer, CWSR-124.6-Blue; and Adam Kanable, CWSR-108.3-White.

Adam Kanable had a Robin Hood during his time at the line. A Robin Hood is a shot when an archer manages to split an arrow that that has already landed on the target with another arrow from a secondary shot from the very same position.

The junior CWSR team received red ribbons and senior CWSR team received blue ribbons.

The Johnson boys also did the Archery 3-D Course. Caleb shot a 273 and Gabe a 131.

Monday night, April 25th ended the season with a pizza party with most members and family attending.
