Tuesday is Election Day

 


Edmunds County will elect several county and District 23 candidates on the Primary Election on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

There are Republican candidates for District 23 State Senator and State Representative. The winners will have no competition in November.

Bryan Breitling of Miller and Spencer Gosch of Glenham are candidates for State Senator. Breitling is the incumbent and Gosch served as a State Representative.

Four Republicans are vying for two seats as State Representatives: Brandon Black of Aberdeen, Gregory Brooks of Aberdeen, James Wangsness of Miller and Scott Moore of Ipswich.

Edmunds County voters will also elect the County Sheriff at the Primary election in June. Republicans Bruce Sahli and Jonathan Waldner are both candidates.

The S.D. Republican party will also choose candidates for state races. Candidates for U.S. Senator are the incumbent John Thune, Bruce Whalen and Mark Mowry. Candidates for U.S. Representative are the incumbent Dusty Johnson and Taffy Howard. Incumbent Governor Kristi Noem faces Steven Haugaard.

On the Republican ballot and on a Nonpolitical ballot is Constitutional Amendment C. The amendment would change any future ballot measure that increases taxes, or spends $10 million over five years, to pass by at least 60%.

The election polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on June 7.

The election polling places are:

Precinct #1 – The M Station in Mina (Townships: Belle, Clear Lake, Cortlandt, Pembrook, and Richland).

Precinct #2 – 4-H Building in Ipswich (City of Ipswich; less residents North of US Hwy 12 and East of 4th Street).

Precinct #3 – 4-H Building in Ipswich (Townships: Cleveland, Fountain, Harmony, Ipswich, Kent, Liberty, Powell, Rosette, Union, and the Northeast section of Ipswich City (North of US Hwy 12 and East of 4th Street)).

Precinct #4 – Roscoe Fire Hall (Townships: Adrian, Bryant, Glen, Glover, Huntley, Montpelier, North Bryant, Vermont and the City of Roscoe)

Precinct #5 – Bowdle Multi-Purpose Center (Townships: Bowdle, Cloyd Valley, Cottonwood Lake, Hillside, Hudson, Madison, Modena, Odessa and the City of Bowdle)

Precinct #6 – Hosmer Fire Hall (Townships: Hosmer, Sangamon and the City of Hosmer).

Any voter who needs assistance, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may contact the county auditor at 605 426-6762 before the election for information on polling place accessibility for people with disabilities.
