Ipswich School welcomes new teachers for 2022-23

Preparing for the school year at the Open House last week.

Ipswich students began the new 2022-23 school year on Tuesday, Aug. 23. They were introduced to several new teachers. Their profiles follow:

Stewart Bohle

Teaching position: JH Social Studies

Family and Background: I am married to Lori (30 years). I have two children - Emily who is married to Taylor Weigel and Alex who just graduated from Northern. He is employed at Coke in Aberdeen.

Teaching Experience: This is my 21st year of teaching: 10 years at Aberdeen Roncalli and 11 years at Warner.

This year I'm looking forward to: I am looking forward to working with all the students and meeting the people I don't know already.

In my spare time I like to: spend time with my family. I also enjoy going to sporting events. My favorite teams are: Notre Dame, Creighton University basketball, Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Susan Glodt

Teaching position: K-8 Math and Science at Deerfield Colony

Family and Background: I grew up in Hoven, where my parents still live. I have three sisters and two brothers and nine nieces and nephews. I graduated from Hoven High School and attended Northern State University. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood Education.

Teaching Experience: I started teaching in 2008. I taught at Holy Cross for eight years. I then moved to Madison and taught at St. Thomas School for six years.

This year I'm looking forward to: being back in the area and starting a new adventure with being at a colony!

In my spare time I like to: spend time with family and friends. I also like to read and take naps.

Jill Helvig

Teaching position: EL

Family and Background: I grew up in Aberdeen. I am married to Aaron and have two sons, Jayden (13) and Jackson (8).

Teaching Experience: I've been a teacher for 24 years at Frederick, Sturgis (Meade Schools), Leola and Groton.

This year I'm looking forward to: meeting new people and building wonderful relationships with students. teachers and the community.

In my spare time I like to: spend time with family, scrapbooking, volleyball, and softball.

Haley Johnson

Teaching position: Pembrook 4-8th grades

Family and Background: I'm a brand new teacher this year from Webster. My parents are Ben and Nicole Johnson and am the oldest of five. I was also a member of the NSU women's basketball team, where I completed my teaching degree.

Teaching Experience: This will be my first year. I completed my student teaching at May Overby in second grade.

This year I'm looking forward to: beginning my career and building connections with all students, parents and co-workers.

In my spare time I like to: spend time at Pickerel Lake with family and friends and spoil my dog Odin with lots of ice cream!

Jeromy Loken

Teaching position: Elementary PE and Industrial Technology

Family and Background: I am married (Tracy Loken) and four children (Taylor, Sydney, Ashton and Rasmus). I have lived in Ipswich for over 19 years. I graduated from NSU with a B.S. degree in Psychology and Sociology, a teaching certificate and a Masters in Education.

Teaching Experience: I have one previous year of teaching where I taught 7th grade math at Simmons Middle School in Aberdeen.

This year I'm looking forward to: getting to know the students and having a safe and fun year.

In my spare time I like to: spend time with family, attend local sporting events and childrens' activities, and travel.

New face in the Elementary Office

Jessica Sylte

Teaching position: Elementary Administrative Assistant, Elementary Paraprofessional

Family and Background: Husband: Jason. Kids: Kingston - freshman, Gage - 5th grade, Cambree - 1st grade. I grew up and graduated high school in Beresford. Following high school I worked at a daycare center for two years. In 2003 I married Jason and moved to Ipswich. I ran my own in-home daycare for nine years.

Teaching Experience: This will be my third year as an elementary paraprofessional and my first year as the Elementary Administrative Assistant.

This year I'm looking forward to: getting to know all the families a little bit better.

In my spare time I like to: read, sew, cook, bike, sit on the beach.
