The Annual Powell Church Service was held on September 11, 2022. The church is in the Pioneer Village in Ipswich.

The event was hosted by the Flower and Garden Club of Ipswich.

Several former members of the Powell Church were present. Three couples were present who had been married in the church before it was moved to Ipswich in 1984: Leann (Jones) and Dale Fredrickson - 66 years, Marsha (Mount) and Terry Howard – 52 years and Maureen (Mount) and Ray Howell - 50 years.

Dean and Bonnie (Jensen) Hodson were celebrating their 73rd Wedding Anniversary. They were married on September 11 1949. The congregation joined in singing "Happy Anniversary" for them.

Memories of the Powell Church were given by Randy Richards from Brookings. One of the Memory Highlights was Randy pointing to the pew where the Powell members sat each Sunday. He also recalled, Bazaars, Picnics, Christmas Programs with Santa Claus being his Uncle Ben Richards and the organist his Aunt Blodwen Richards.

Roland Pond of Aberdeen led the singing of hymns accompanied by Sara (Fredrickson) Gayley of Paola, Kan. on the antique pump organ in the church. Leann Fredrickson of Aberdeen, played the prelude.

Bonnie and Dean Hodson welcomed each one with a Bulletin and Glen Hodson served as usher. Patty Kadlac gave the Welcome, Maureen Howell of Aberdeen gave the Call to Worship and Valette Horst of Ipswich led in Prayer.

Memorials of Evie Pond, Marjorie Walker and Andy Thares were given by Leann Fredrickson

A Pot Luck Meal followed the service at the UCC Church. The Flower and Garden Club hosted this meal, which was enjoyed by everyone with food and visiting.
