Weather Summary

November 16, 2022

November is Ipswich’s third driest month at a 47 year average of 0.62. The average high temp. is 40° and low is 20. Freezing night time temps. become common and a few below zero readings are recorded. Snowfall average comes into the picture at 6 inches and some carry over into December does occur. November is the month that the season of fall moves into winter by the end of the month for Ipswich. A lot of the snow comes with a rain mix which makes highways, streets, sidewalks etc. very dangerous to navigate as we are experiencing now.

The amounts of precip. during November is at a very low average and the temps. mostly stay in the average range which makes this month dry and pleasant but not all the time. This is what I will be dealing with in the next three weeks, the unusual ones:

1981: High & low temp. averages normal – Eleven days had temps. in the 60s – No night time readings in the single digits – All night time readings below freezing though except four – Moisture high for November at 2.11 with 12 inches of snowfall – Biggest snow event was 8 inches on the 30th.

1985: First six days the high temp. averaged 53° but after this there was no temp. higher than 38° – All night time temp. readings were freezing except one with eleven below zero readings in a row to end the month – Four days in a row at the end of the month it never got above zero which extended into the first two days of December for a total of six – Moisture was high at 1.22 with 20 inches of snowfall with a snow pack of 17 inches into December – The lowest temp. of the eleven below zero readings was -20 on the 27th.

1992: Another cool month – Average high temp. 32° – No high readings in the 50s or 60s – Every night had a freezing temp. – The high for 20 days never got above freezing – Moisture above normal at 1.35 with 10 inches of snow. – Month started with a 10 inch snow pack which continued most of the month which contributed to the cold temps.
