New teachers added to Edmunds Central staff

Edmunds Central students started the 2023-24 school year on Monday, August 21.

There are two new teachers this year and one that started in the middle of the year last year. The new educators are Bailey Weisser, Kindergarten and Jennah Trefz, Agriculture Education. Mitchell Buller, History teacher, started last year in January.

Each answered a Edmunds County Tribune questionnaire:

Bailey Weisser

Teaching position: Kindergarten

Family and Background: I’m married to Braden Weisser. I grew up in Ipswich, the daughter of Tom and Paula Hammrich. I graduated from Ipswich, then went to  Northern State University to get a Bachelors in Elementary Education. This will be my first year teaching!

Teaching Experience: I did my student teaching 12-week placement with Jackie Malsam in first grade at Edmunds Central in Roscoe. Then went to Ipswich to get an additional Kindergarten Endorsement with Valerie Duncan. I was an active sub in the Aberdeen School District, Ipswich, Edmunds Central and Leola. I have been a summer school teacher at EC for two years now.

This year I’m looking forward to: starting my teaching journey and getting to see my students learn and grow throughout the year.

In my spare time I like to: craft, bike, bake, garden, hangout with friends and family.

Jennah Trefz

Teaching position: Agriculture Education

Family and Background: I grew up in Central Minnesota, attended school at the University of Minnesota Crookston for my degree in AgEd. While at college I met my husband who is from Faulk County. After teaching in Minn. for three years we decided we wanted to move somewhere more rural.

Teaching Experience: I taught at Morris Area High School in Minnesota for three years. I primarily focused on Ag Mechanics, Woodshop, Plant Sciences, Natural Resources and of course, FFA.

This year I’m looking forward to: I am looking forward to getting connected with students and the community.

In my spare time I like to: Keep busy! I like to ride horses, help on the family farm and if there is time, read.

Mitchell Buller

Teaching position: History teacher

Family and Background: Born and raised in Watertown. Graduated in 2017 and then took a gap year working at a grocery store and a factory. I attended Northern State University and graduated in December 2022 with honors. My parents, Mark and Patti Buller, own a sewing/grill supply store in Watertown.

Teaching Experience: I student taught at Florence in the fall of 2020. I graduated with honors and started at Roscoe in January 2023.

This year I’m looking forward to: Teaching at the school and hunting.

In my spare time I like to: Go hunting, visit friends and family, and research history. In the summers I like to drive my 1975 Jeep CJ-5 around Watertown.
