North Central swept a home court girls/boys basketball varsity twinbill vs. McIntosh last Monday in Eureka.

The Thunder girls defeated their visitors 50-14 and the boys topped their varsity rivals 75-54.

The home girls got off to an impressive start with a 14-4 lead and extended that to 29-8 at intermission. They would then lead 42-14 with a quarter to play and coasted to their victory.

Two reasons were Amree Vander Vorst with her 15 points and Ella Batie who tallied13 points.

Alaina Dosch had six points, followed by Katelyn Engelhart and Ashton Heyne with three points apiece. Sydney Bertsch, Kaidence Bulgin, Jenisa Jacobs, Camryn Witlock and Carleigh Dosch each had two points.

The visiting team was led by Mikki Maher with six points, followed by Riley Glines with five points and Josie Campbell with three points on a trey. They were able to make five field goals counting that trey and added three free throws. The Thunder made 19 baskets (all inside the trey arc) and added 12 free throws.

Batie grabbed eight of her team's 34 rebounds. The visitors claimed 25 rebounds led by Glines with eight boards. And the Thunder's stifling defense helped force their opponents into 34 turnovers.

BOYS

Now for the NC boys, they got off to a solid 20-7 first-quarter lead and wouldn't look back. They led 39-22 at halftime and 57-36 with a quarter to go. Even though both teams would score 18 points in the final stanza it would be too little too late for the visitors.

Raynor Sprague tallied 11 points including two treys and Cooper Oxner also reached double figures with 11 points including two treys. Jude Jacobs added nine points, followed by a pair of seven point scorers — Zane Haar and Tim Rucker. Haar included one trey. Brady Beitelspacher had six points and Donavon Nelson five points, including a trey. Kobe Wherry and Trent Beyers each scored four points, while Seth Hettick scored three points with his trey. Cole Beitelspacher added two points.

Wyatt Schell had 20 points for McIntosh, followed by Ashton Waliser with 14 points and Desmond Steele with 12 counters. Two other players scored at least one point.

North Central had 22 two-point baskets, seven treys and 10 free throws. McIntosh countered with 19 two-pointers, a trio of treys and seven accurate free throws.

The visitors had 20 rebounds and North Central 38 boards led by Haar with seven of them. Wherry and Oxner each added six rebounds. The Thunder sustained 17 turnovers and McIntosh, 20. The Thunder collected 12 steals, led by Spragues's three thefts. They also dished out 16 assists with a balanced team effort.
