Local artist honored by SDAEA

The South Dakota Art Education Association (SDAEA) has named Amy Heinz the South Dakota 2024 Art Teacher of the Year.

Amy has been teaching 6-12 at Aberdeen Roncalli since 2021, while also being the MS Band Instructor at Trinity Lutheran since 2018.

She is the secretary for the SDAEA organization and has been a presenter and attended the last several years.

She has been an Elementary Art Coordinator, on the Art in Catholic Schools Committee, and on the Achievement of Fine Arts collaboration and development art criteria committee.

Amy placed third in Aberdeen Downtown Association Summer Art Series 2023, and had her Artwork displayed downtown Aberdeen during the summer of 2023. She developed a way to make sure that her students are all participating in a variety of art competitions and shows across the city, state and country.
