Fiddlin' Around

September 18, 2019

The month of September reminds me of June, there's something going on every weekend. For instance we just attended the Northeast South Dakota Celtic Faire, not right in Aberdeen this year, but at the youth camp on the beautiful shore of Richmond Lake. The reels and jigs sound unbelievable at that venue (a few years ago there was a folk festival benefit fundraiser in that same spot, so we knew the live music would be awesome and it was.)

The month will close out with a film festival at the Capitol in Aberdeen and that's always interesting for those people that love the cinema.

And you don't even have to mention weekend sporting events around the area. But that just makes things more interesting. For instance we attended the Ipswich Cross Country Invitational and didn't even have to get in the car to get there.

Then this weekend and you can count Thursday as part of the weekend if you wish, there are home volleyball matches that night. Ipswich/Edmunds Central has football the following evening (Friday) versus Warner in Ipswich. Plus for the first time, Ipswich will host its own invitational high school volleyball eight-team tourney beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday. (Ipswich captured a Mobridge-Pollock invitational last Saturday.)

And the weather has been quite a bit more docile than in the southern part of the state, so that's something to be thankful for!
