Local worshippers returning to church buildings for worship services

Some local churches are returning to their churches for Sunday worship services.

“For the Catholic Churches in the area, public celebrations of the Catholic Mass began on May 16,” said Father Timothy Smith of Holy Cross Church. “We have gathered for the past three weekends with no difficulty,” he said. That includes services in Roscoe at St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and in Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ipswich on Sundays at 9 a.m.

A handout, “Faith and Common Sense” is available at the church entrance. All guidelines for participation and social distancing are also available on the parish website http://www.holycrossipswich. org under the link Covid-19 directions.

The Mass can also be seen on the Holy Cross website through You Tube for those who choose to participate at home.

St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Roscoe has also been meeting in their church in Roscoe at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. Pastor Justin Dauck said services are also online at their website (stpaulsroscoe.com/ watch) or on their YouTube channel.

Safety guidelines can be found on the homepage of their website and on their Facebook page.

St. Paul’s Congregational Church in Hosmer are now meeting in the church on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m.

Each church reminds their members to keep the six-foot distance requested by the CDC in safety of the COVID-19 virus.

“Masks are not required,” according to the First Baptist Church’s guidelines. “Please feel free to wear one so that you are comforable.”
