Ipswich utilized a solid defensive effort on the way to a 57-26 non-conference boys' high school basketball victory in Webster last Saturday.

That all started right away, as the Tigers would double their hosts 10-5 in the initial quarter and then lead 23-12 at intermission. Ipswich also won both individual quarters in the second half, 17-10 and 17-4, respectively. Ipswich's largest lead in the game would be 31 points and Webster never ever led.

That's because the Tigers would obtain a balanced scoring effort, led by Josh McQuarie's game-high 18 points. He also dished out a team-high five assists. (The Tigers totaled 14 of those.) Next would be Eric Severson with eight points. Taylor Thorson added six points, as did Trevor Heinz with a pair of treys. Matt Jaenisch scored three points on a trey, as did Dylan Owens, Tyler Hettich and Matt Hettich. Ty Kadlec also contributed three points, followed by Carson Gohl and Colby Sylte with a basket apiece. The Tigers compiled a 24-66 floor-shot advantage that featured those six treys and were 3-9 in free throw tries.

The hosts managed 10 points from Jacob Pereboom and only four other Bearcats would contribute to their scorebook. They shot 8-47 from the floor and that included a trio of treys. They got to the charity stripe 10 times and made seven of their attempts.

The rebounding battle was won by Ipswich 51 to 34, led by McQuarie with seven retrieves and Severson with six. Ipswich committed 17 turnovers; Webster, 15. The Tigers obtained 12 steals, though, led by Kadlec's three.

That win improved the Tigers to 3-1 at that juncture of the young season. Their next appearance was to be a LRC league battle scheduled for December 22 vs. Aberdeen Christian in Aberdeen and the Tigers were then scheduled to attend the Big Bo Classic in Wolsey on December 30.
