Fiddlin' Around

January 27, 2021

February is right around the corner, believe it or not. And one of the first things we associate with February is a ground hog for obvious reasons. And I guess there will also be a Super Bowl in early February despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Our weather hasn't been very winter like lately, regarding snow anyway. The storms mostly miss us to the south and we are lucky to catch the bottom end of a North Dakota storm from time to time. We go from unusally mild to fairly cold, but not bitterly cold for this time of year so we are getting spoiled when the night time thermometer drops into the single digits for a few days.

That said, it can still certainly get icy, just with a little precip, especially when you have a thin layer of snow on top of that old ice that has alternately been freezing or thawing into puddles of water.

So don't blame the ground hog if he sees his shadow or not. This year he just might get confused just like the rest of us. He might even get sunburned and we wouldn't want that, would we?
