Wolves howl during homecourt win over Tigers

The Wilmot Wolves edged the Ipswich Tigers 45-23 in non-conference girls' high school basketball action in Wilmot on February 10.

The hosts would outscore their visitors in each individual quarter — 12-7, 13-4, 8-6 and 12-6, respectively, thus gradually expanding their lead.

They would be led in scoring by Madeline Redmund with 15 points and Paris Red Thunder was next with her 10 points also reaching double-digits. Four more Wolves were able to contribute to their balanced attack that night.

Ipswich, meanwhile, was led by Ashlyn Weig with nine points including one trey and Katie Bierman was next with seven points that also featured a trey. Baylee Kulesa, Karlie Gohl and Quincy Olivier were each able to contribute two points. And Marley Guthmiller added a free throw to round out the Tigers' scoring.

The Wolves would utilize 30 rebounds; Ipswich, 32, led by Kulesa with six retrieves. The Tigers and the Wolves each incurred 12 turnovers. The Tigers would counter with seven steals, led by Bierman with four thefts. She also obtained three of her team's 10 assists.


Ipswich would finish with 10 accurate floor shots that would include those two treys. The Tigers added one free throw in eight trips to the line. The hosts were 15-37 from the floor with five treys and were 10-17 at the charity stripe.
