September introduction

The average high temperature for September is currently 72° and low 46°. The average precip. drops off to 2.07 and thunder is still possible. There is still a chance for some very warm day-time temps. but it decreases as the month wears on. By the end of the month the chance for frost and actual killing frost becomes a very big possibility. Night time readings become very cool. All in all, September is a very pleasant month in S. D. as summer moves into fall. 100° days are still possible but none since 1983. 90° days also drops off to only 90 in 47 years. September in S. D. is like what is called a Mediterranean climate that is enjoyed in southern Europe most year around.
