IHS Cross Country second and third in Highmore, meet here today

IN HIGHMORE

The Ipswich cross-country contingent attended a Saturday meet in Highmore where the Tiger girls were second only to Potter County (6 to 31).

Individually this was won by the Battlers' Dannika Kaup in 19:20.50, while Autumn Fallis of H-H was second in 19:25.45. Ipswich, meanwhile, was paced by Gracyn Kadlec who was seventh in 20:44.15 and Madisyn Gellhaus was ninth at 21:06.81. Their third scorer that day would become Ava Davis, 29th, in 24:40.37.

Ipswich entered three girls in the JV event, led by Aubree DeRaad seventh in 22:48.94. (It was won by Devyyn Van Roekel of Pierre in 20:58.46.) Bella Unser was 14th in 25:47.28 and Hailey Usselman 22nd in 31:40.39. (They helped give Ipswich a third-place outcome in the JV girls' team standings.)

The middle-school girls were fourth as a team, led by Aubrey Crissman eighth in11:19.49. Olivia Kadlec was 29th at 13:05.16 and Darcy Yost 43rd in 15:29.96.

The boys from Ipswich were third in the varsity team standings with their 31 points. Philip and Miller were at the top of the logjam with 12 points each. Miller featured the top two individuals — Pierce Baumberger first in 16:26.19 and his teammate Alex Schumacher second in 16:55.88.

Ipswich, meanwhile, was led by Dylan Wald in ninth at 17:57.95. Xavier Kadlec was 13th in 18:22.54 and Turner Thorson placed 16th in 18:32.51. Their fourth scorer was Tye Pietz 34th in 20:47.78 and then Tyler Gehlhaus was 44th in 21:56.86.

Ipswich got fourth as a team in the boys' middle-school event led by Ethan Wald's eighth in 9:56.89. Clayton Horst was 25th in 11:15.72 followed by Jace Stiles 26th in 11:17.51. Then was Gavin Horst 41st in 12:07.06. Benjamin Hoyle was 44th in 12:25.62, followed by Edison Unser 46th in 12:59.68 and Jasper Opsahl 55th in 14:57.90.

The Tigers will close the regular season on Oct. 5 in Ipswich for the LRC Meet. The Region 1B Meet will be Oct. 12 in Webster at 1 p.m. The qualifying runners will compete in the State Meet on Oct. 22 in Huron.

IN MILLER

Ipswich attended a high school cross country invite on September 26 at Miller.

Girls first! In the girls' varsity standings Madyson Gehlhaus placed 25th at 22:42.69, followed by Gracyn Kadlec 31st in 23:54.75.

But in the girls' JV effort the youthful Tigers won it all topping runners-up Northwestern 35 to 47 for team honors, led by Aubrey DeRaad first among 34 individual runners in 17:40.68. Ava Davis was 13th in 20:15.60 and Bella Unser 15th at 20:37.25. Hailey Usselman was 29th in 23:37.56.

Ipswich was fifth as a team in the girls middle-school outcome led by Aubrey Crissman in fifth at 11:10.88. Olivia Kadlec was 24th in 12:59.90. Darcy Yost was their remaining runner in 35th at 15:16.40. Jaycee Stevens of Potter County won this event in 10:25.97.

The Ipswich boys' varsity, meanwhile, placed sixth as a team with their 75 points. Philip won this 12 to 25 over Northwestern. But the Wildcats' runner Lincoln Woodring won the individual honors in 16:43.95. (Philip's Wakely Burns was second in 16:51.81.)

Xavier Kadlec paced Ipswich with a 15th-place clocking of 18:33.90. Turner Thorson was 31st in 19:42.35, followed by Dylan Wald 41st in 20:21.01. There were 62 individuals entered in this event. Meanwhile, the boys JV runners from Ipswich were Tye Pietz sixth in 16:41.46 and Tyler Gellhaus 18th in 19:12.93. This event totaled 25 runners.

In the middle-school boys competition Ipswich's Ethan Wald finished ninth in 9:56.33. Benjamin Hoyle was 22nd in 10:56.63 followed by Gavin Horst in 31st at 12:07.73. Edison Unser placed 33rd in 12:26.72 and Jasper Opsahl 34th in 12:45.89. (As a team, Ipswich placed fifth.)
