Fiddlin' Around

October 19, 2022

The fall air is definitely feeling crisper by the day. How is that? Well I looked at our digital indoor/outdoor thermometer when I first got up on Tuesday morning and it would read -4. But I didn't believe there was that much frost on the car to scrape. So I pick up the thermometer just to get closer look and guess what you guessed it, bumping it up against the wall would change the thing back over to the F scale not the C scale and I already felt warmer.

But that wasn't the case last Wednesday in Webster for Ipswich's cross country regionals. The last time we had been over in that northeast region in Webster a number of years ago the air was filled with wind chill that you wouldn't believe including intermittent rain and sleet showers. Guess what you guessed it, the very same weather conditions hindered the efforts of all those runners on what must be one of the hilliest courses in the state last Wednesday.

So good luck to the three IHS girls and the three boys representing Ipswich in the State B in Huron on Saturday and to the lone North Central Thunder Class A qualifier. And that Huron course isn't exactly level by any means either. Before that though good luck to the Ipswich football team traveling to Bon Homme on Thursday evening for a first-round Class 9AA clash. On paper anyway the 6-2 Ipswich versus the 5-3 Bon Homme contingent should match up pretty well and hopefully the Tigers will indeed be in the hunt to advance into the next round on October 27.
