April 26, 2023

Mass of Christian Burial for Ken Weber, 81, was at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 24, 2023, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Ipswich, with Fr. Timothy Cone serving as Celebrant.  Burial followed the service at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery .

Ken Weber was born in Aberdeen to Mike and Katie Weber on November 15, 1941. He grew up in Ipswich, going to Holy Cross School and then graduated with the class of 1960 at Ipswich High School. After graduating, he got a scholarship and played football for one year at Yankton College in Yankton. After going there for two years and not knowing what he really wanted to do with his life, Ken took a job in Chicago working for Continental Airlines. One year later, he came back to Ipswich, and married his high school sweetheart Ronna Williams on December 30,1962. Ken worked at the Co-Op as a driver for LP Gas for 34 years and knew where everyone in Edmunds County lived. After he retired, Ken spent many years painting homes to keep busy. He and Ronna were blessed with 8 children which kept them very busy with all their sporting activities. They made it to every game and event possible.

You could usually find Ken out golfing, biking, driving around Ipswich in his gold pickup, or sitting on the top bleacher of the Tiger Den cheering on the Ipswich Tigers. Ken would look forward to the month of May so he could watch his many kids and grandkids participate in the state track meet. After his kids were out of school, he remained involved by timing and picking for the Ipswich track meets. With today's technology, he would stay up to date by using his iPad to look at all the pictures on Facebook and communicate with his kids, and grandkids. He enjoyed every Sunday getting together with his sister, Linda, visiting and having coffee. They would joke about who made the best breakfast. Ken also was a big Pittsburg Steelers fan and loved watching Jordan Spieth play golf.

Ken passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at his residence.

He is survived by his eight children, Tracy (Jim) Thares of Aberdeen, Susie Holland of Dakota Dunes, Rick (Deb) Weber of Aberdeen, Jeff (Pam) Weber of Las Vegas, Nev., Paula (Tom) Hammrich of Ipswich, Carol (Brian) Morgan of Aberdeen, Jodi (Phil) McFee of Omaha, Neb. and Marcy (Justin) Kehrwald of Hudson, Wis. Together, Ken and Ronna had 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Linda Gisi, who still resides in Ipswich. His grandkids were his pride and joy: Sara Bonn, Jennifer Jurgens, Allison Thares, Jamie White, Alyssa Mitchell, Tori Weber, Eric Weber, Chris Weber, Chad Weber, Rachel Weber, Katie Weber, Sydney Hammrich, Bailey Weisser, Taylor Morgan, Brady Morgan, Allie Morgan, Avery McFee, Alex McFee, Collin Kehrwald, Isabelle Kehrwald.
