Louise 'Pat' Schmitt

Louise 'Pat' Schmitt, formerly of Loyalton, 96, was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in Billings Mont.

Pat was born on March 17, 1927 to Ralph and Edna (Gange) Oban near Loyalton. She grew up in the Loyalton area and attended Loyalton Public Schools. Pat married Vernard Schmitt on July 12, 1943. They moved to their farm north of Loyalton in 1946 where they raised three children, Charlotte, Larry and Rocky.

They moved to a ranch north of Custer, Mont. in 1978 along with their son Larry and his family. In 1991 they moved to the rural Huntley, Mont. area. Pat enjoyed the outdoors, be it working in the fields, doing farm chores or in later years, the yard and with her many flowers. Many times she said she even missed milking cows!

Pat moved to The Springs at Grand Park, an assisted facility in Billings Mont. in September 2018, where she resided until her death. She spent many hours and days making quilts and crocheting afghans for her family.

Pat leaves behind her daughter, Charlotte (Hilton) Walth of Glenham; daughters-in-law, Linda Schmitt of Custer, Mont. and Arlene Schmitt, Redfield; 9 Grandchildren; 17 Great-Grandchildren; five Great-Great-Grandchildren; sister, Joyce Vargason of Roscoe; three sisters-in-law; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband Vernard in 2011; sons Larry in 2016 and Rocky in 2018; her parents; parents-in-law; four sisters; three brothers and a sister in infancy.

Services will be Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. with family present at Apostles Lutheran Church at 3140 Broadwater Ave in Billings. Burial will be at the Huntley Cemetery, Huntley.

Smith Funeral Chapels in Billings are in charge of the arrangements.
