IHS Boys top Wilmot Wolves

Ipswich hosted Wilmot in boys' only high school basketball action last Friday in the Tiger Den. And the 62-33 Ipswich varsity win was a non-conference verdict.

Ipswich indeed would double the Wolves 20-10 in the first quarter with two free throws by Chet Peterson. And Peterson's trey ended the first half with the Tigers up 37-16. And the Tigers wouldn't let up too much during the second half and were able to cruise to a win.after leading 49-25 at the third-quarter break.

This was definitely a fun night for Peterson who finished with 17 points that included one trey. He earned a double-double with 10 rebounds and dished out five assists, got four steals and a blocked shot.

And Ipswich got 16 points apiece from Jace Konsor and Trevor Heinz. Konsor included two treys and Heinz one trey. (Heinz would distribute seven assists.

Kyle Hettich contributed seven points that included one trey and Xavier Kadlec would add four points. Jaxon Holt scored two points. Meanwhile Wilmot's leading scorer that evening would be Maddux Foss with nine points. And six other Wolves would score. They were 14-41 in floor shots that featured four treys. They added one free throw. Ipswich went 24-54 in their field goal effort which included those five treys and were 9-11 in free throw tries.


Ipswich obtained 33 rebounds led by Peterson's 10. The visitors grabbed 28 rebounds paced by Ethan Schwenn with seven of them. Ipswich only sustained 11 turnovers while Wimot incurred 21 miscues. And four of those would be Peterson's steals and also four thefts by Heinz.

The Tigers will host Timber Lake in a afternoon doubleheader on Dec. 30.
