Waubay-Summit visited the Tiger Den last Tuesday and escaped with a sweep of their high school basketball twinbill vs. Ipswich. Their girls indeed won 60-41 and their boys had a little easier time of it with a 46-39 victory.

First for the girls, the visitors led 26-6 after a quarter so got off to a real impressive start to say the least. They would then lead 40-18 at halftime. They would then outscore Ipswich 12-8 in the third stanza to maintain their momentum.

The Mustangs were led by Faith Larson with 17 points and Eva Benike added 13 points, while eight total players would score.

Ipswich answered with 11 points from Brianna Geditz including one trey and Marley Guthmiller added 10 points. Anna Nierman scored seven points and then Tristan Geditz had two treys for her six points. LaVahay Russell added four points and Kaylin Onken contributed three points.

Ipswich totaled 15 floor shots included those treys and also shot 8-12 in free throw attempts. The visitors countered with 23 field goals including nine three-pointers. They added five free thows in six trips to the charity stripe.

Waubay-Summit had 34 rebounds and Ipswich, 32 so fairly close there. (Ipswich was led by Marley Guthmiller with nine boards and Tristan Geditz with seven rebounds.) Meanwhile Ipswich experienced 18 turnovers and W-S, 19.

BOYS

In the boys game the Mustangs would gradually obtained the momentum after Ipswich had established an early 10-4 first-quarter lead. But the visitors tied things 21-21 at intermission and would lead 32-29 with a quarter to play. Ipswich definitely stayed within striking distance, though, but couldn't sustain a final-quarter rally.

The visitors were led by Camden Neilan's 14 points and Traveion Neilan added 11 points, while Jackson Wohllber tallied 10 points.

Ipswich (and all scorers for that matter) was led by Trevor Heinz with 18 points including two treys. And Chet Peterson was next with seven points. Xavier Kadlec had six points and Jace Konsor added five points including one trey. Kyle Hettich netted a trey for his three points.

Ipswich totaled 17 baskets including their treys and was 1-3 in free throw tries. Waubay-Summit totaled 17 accurate floor shots including six treys and added six free throws.

The visitors pulled down 26 rebounds and Ipswich 30 led by Peterson with 10 boards. Ipswich ended up with 17 turnovers while the visiting team would incur 13 miscues.

The Tiger girls and boys will host Timber Lake on Dec. 30.
