Catherine Crisp

 

Catherine R. (nee Menzia) Crisp, age 96, passed away on April 15, 2024.

She was born on February 25, 1928 to Steven and Elizabeth (Klein) Menzia in Roscoe.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Nickolas. She was the beloved mother of James (Helen), Thomas (Christine), Elizabeth (Ronald) Loroff and Mary Crisp. Beloved grandmother of Amanda (Zackary) Fischer, Kevin Crisp (Gabriella D'Amato), Ashley Loroff, Dylan Crisp, Austin Crisp (Lindsay Dolan) and Brandon Crisp. Beloved great-grandmother of Emerson Loroff, Madilyn and Mikaela Fischer, Eleanor Loroff-Stehley and Selina Crisp. Also loved by brothers, Adam (Emily) Menzia, Aloyce Menzia, Roger (Joan) Menzia & sister in-law, Donna Menzia. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Elizabeth (nee Klein) Menzia, in-laws, Ralph and Mary (Meilander) Crisp, sister Magdalena (James) Kulas, brothers, Conrad (Bibiana) Menzia, Paul (Catherine) Menzia, Wendlein (Rosemary) Menzia, Joseph Menzia, sister in-laws, Margaret Menzia, Marjorie (Glen) Peterson, brother in-laws, James and Ralph Crisp, niece, Bettie (Kulas) Brister, nephews, Conrad Kulas, William Menzia and James Peterson.

Catherine was a Charter Member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She was a member of the Over 50 group (Wednesday Faith Group), Resurrection Choir, Christian Women's Society, Human Concerns Committee, Ministry to the Home Bound, Giving Tree and Mass sacristan. She was a strong woman of faith and believed in the power of prayer.

Catherine was a long-time volunteer at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home where she would visit residents, created birthday corsages, Santa's helper to distribute gifts and eucharistic minister. She especially liked to visit those residents that did not have loved ones available.

In 2008, she was inducted into The Milwaukee County Senior Citizen Hall of Fame. Recognizing senior citizens as valuable members of our society, making contributions in all aspects of our community. Catherine was dedicated to helping and caring for family and others, which brought joy into their lives.

Funeral was held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Milwaukee, Wis., with visitation on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 9 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial. The family thanks the staff at Aurora St. Lukes Medical Center and Aurora Zilber Family Hospice for the loving care and comfort she received.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Lady of Lourdes, Heart of the Nation Catholic Mass, DAV – Disabled American Veterans or Aurora Zilber Family Hospice are appreciated.
