    The Edmunds Central Snow Queen and Junior Snow Queen will be crowned Saturday, Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. in the Bowdle School gymnasium. There is one candidate for 2024 Miss Edmunds Central — ECHS senior Alanna Wiedrich. Several EC ninth graders are vying for the title of 2024 Junior Miss Edmunds Central.     Morgan Trefz is a new Natural Resource Specialist in the Ipswich Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) office. Trefz grew up near Onaka, helping work on the family farm. He attended the University of Minnesota Crookston, graduating with a degree in Natural Resources. "My wife and I recently moved back to the area and are excited to be here," Trefz said.     Edmunds Central School will host a Veterans Day Remembrance Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Gymnasium. The program will feature musical selections by the EC Band and Choir, and student presentations and artwork. All U.S. Veterans, their families and area residents are invited to join them honoring veterans for their service to the country.   • Feeding SD Food Pantry coming next week

    The Feeding South Dakota Mobile Food Pantry will return to Edmunds County soon. The Food Pantry will be in Ipswich Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Edmunds County 4-H Building. The Food Pantry will be in Bowdle on Monday, Nov. 13 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Proxy pickups are allowed. Complete the SD Feeding form and give it to your proxy to bring with to the food distribution.     The North Central Thunder volleyball team fashioned a 3-2 Region 6A victory over Dupree last Monday in Dupree. The win advanced the Thunder to face Miller last Thursday in Miller for a bracket championship. Meanwhile versus Dupree the Thunders' respective game results were 25-20, 15-25, 19-25, 25-19 and 15-13 in the tie-breaker set.     Herreid -Selby Area fashioned a 3-0 high school Region 6B regional victory while hosting Ipswich last Monday. The individual set scores all in favor of the hosts were 25-14, 25-16 and 25-11.
