Abigail Grabowska, an Ipswich High School senior volleyball player, was named South Dakota's MaxPreps/ American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) South Dakota Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of October 8, 2018.

The award, chosen by the AVCA, was nominated by IHS coach Trent Osborne, based on Grabowska's seven-set achievements during two match wins over Mobridge-Pollock and Hitchcock-Tulare, respectively.

In those seven sets she totaled 40 kills, averaging 5.71 kills per set. She played the back row equally well with 44 digs, 6.29 digs per set. Grabowska added six defensive blocks and five ace serves.

"Congratulations, you have been selected as the MaxPreps' AVCA Girls Player of the Week (for South Dakota)," said Kelsey Wagner, the MaxPreps awards manager, in a letter to Grabowska. The IHS standout was presented a custom patch and certificate to commemorate her accomplishment.
