Several Ipswich area youth wrestlers competed in the Region AAU wrestling tournament in Pierre.

Results were:

First place: Parker Gill

Second place: Tanner Frickson, Matt McCloud, Denver Wolff, Marley Guthmiller, Sophia Knittel, Brantley Schwartz

Third place: Justin Rohrbach, Kadyn Weisser, Serenity Robinson, Chance Miller, Tucker Habeck, Ryder Steen

Fourth place: Brady Unser, Lane Braun

Fifth place: Gunnar Knittel,

Sixth place: Levi Patch, Ben Hoyle

Did not place: Oliver Dana, Tyler Gellhaus, Draycen Easterby, Rowen Bollinger

The top three in every class advance to the state tournament except for the midget weight class where they take the top four this year. Lane Braun, a midget, placed fourth and will go to state.

State qualifiers and their divisions are: Tanner Frickson, Cadet 126; Justin Rohrbach, Schoolboy 160; Matt McCloud, Schoolboy 160; Kadyn Weisser, Schoolboy 130; Denver Wolff, Schoolboy 125; Parker Gill, Girls C 130; Marley Guthmiller, Girls B 91; Sophia Knittel, Girls A 60; Serenity Robinson, Girls A 55; Chance Miller, Bantam 61; Brantley Schwartz, Bantam 70; Lane Braun, Midget 56; Tucker Habeck, Tots Hwt.; Ryder Steen, Tots 57.

The 2019 State Youth Wrestling Tournament will be in Brookings March 15-17.
