Five Ipswich/Bowdle wrestlers will compete in the State B Wrestling Tournament this week, February 25-27 in Rapid City.

Lucas Rowland placed first in his division in the Region 1B tournament in Groton on Saturday, Feb. 20.

Three boys placed fourth in the Region, also qualifying them to compete at the State B Tournament. Brady Unser, Tanner Frickson and Kadyn Weisser will wrestle in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City.

Marley Guthmiller will compete in the first Girls State B Wrestling Tournament in the B-129 division.

Ipswich/Bowdle wrestlers placed eighth in Region 1B competition. Redfield Area was the Region champions.

Coach Todd Naasz said the I/B boys wrestled hard at the Region.

I/B results were:

106 - Lane Miller received a bye, was pinned 1:33, won by pin 1:43, was pinned :35 for 3 points

113 - Brady Unser lost 11-4, received a bye, won 6-5, was pinned :43 for fourth place and 9 points

132 - Tanner Frickson received a bye, won 9-4, lost (injury default), won 7-5, lost 5-3 for fourth place and 12 points

145 - Adam Kanable was pinned :21, was pinned 1:57

170 - Grant Weisser was pinned 1:51, received a bye, lost 11-1 major decision, lost 5-0 for sixth place and 3 points

182 - Kadyn Weisser won by pin 1:52, was pinned 2:42, received a bye, was pinned 2:06 for fourth place and 11 points

195 - Tyler Tran received a bye, was pinned 2:22, received a bye, won by pin :58, was pinned 2:32, was pinned :14 for sixth place and 7 points

285 - Lucas Rowland won by pin 1:28, won by pin 3:50, won by pin 1:46 for first place and 26 points

The four I/B boys will wrestle familiar competition in the first round, meeting Region 1B competitors or area wrestlers. "There will be no surprises," said coach Naasz.

Unser will wrestle Dragr Monson of Groton Area, Frickson will meet Cael Larson of Webster Area, Weisser will meet Corbin Schwartz of Redfield Area and Rowland will meet Aiden Schoenhard of Mobridge-Pollock. The boys competition begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Marley will wrestle Jaryn Warajcka of Canton. The girls first round is Friday at 10 a.m.
