Fiddlin' Around

March 24, 2021

The Summit League occasionally produces an upset or two during the NCAA men's and women's national basketball tournaments and it appears that has already happened this year.

But not regarding the women's brackets. The lower seeded women's teams from the Summit League, both from South Dakota each lost their respective tourney openers to the higher seeded teams. So that closed out the 2020-21 campaigns for both the USD women and the SDSU women, who were actually an at-large entrant after sustaining a Summit tourney loss.

Now for the men's Summit League rep that provided an upset! That would be Oral Roberts, which I believe is still alive and well, going into the next phase of the men's tourney. Tena knows a couple of people who actually attended Oral Roberts University and no doubt they are quite proud of what has happened so far in the men's tourney.

But in this neck of the woods it doesn't really feel like basketball watching weather. Even though there might be more buzzer-beating baskets that produce elation or missed attempts that result in shock and disbelief!
