Tigers 2-1 at Mobridge-Pollock

Ipswich attended a high school volleyball tourney in Mobridge last Saturday, won by Mobridge-Pollock.

Ipswich finished third, winning the third-place match 2-1 over Stanley County 25-21, 21-25 and 25-21.

Ipswich was 82-105 in hitting, led by Gracie Lange’s 29-37 effort that included 14 kills. Katie Bierman was next at 22-32 with nine kills. Altogether IHS had 35 kills.

The Tigers were 52-61 at the service line with seven aces, led by Lange, 12-13 with one ace. Quincy Olivier was 11-13 with two aces. Bierman was 10-10 with one ace and Vanesa Diaz was 9-11 with one ace.

Ipswich had 22 set assists led by Olivier’s 21. (Madison Geditz had the other.)

Ipswich came away with 51 digs, led by Geditz with 18 and Bierman with 10.

Ipswich’s opening match produced a two-set 25-15 and 25-18 win over North Central. It featured a 19-22 hitting effort by Lange with 11 kills. Bierman went 12-14 at the net with five kills. Ipswich finished 47-54 there with 24 kills.

Ipswich went 28-38 at the service lines with seven aces, led by Geditz with a 10-11 effort with two aces. Diaz went 6-8 with three aces.

Olivier had 15 set assists and Geditz, two. Ipswich had 32 digs paced by Geditz with eight in a balanced effort.

Herreid/Selby Area was able to defeat Ipswich 2-1 in a semi-final showdown. Ipswich actually won the opener 25-21, but then lost 25-14. The H/SA netters then won 25-23 to clinch the match.

In hitting Ipswich was 90-112 with 41 kills. Lange was 37-42 with 17 kills and Bierman 29-35 at the net with 15 kills.

At the service line Ipswich finished 29-43 with one ace, that from Lange who was 9-10 at the line. Baylee Kulesa added a perfect 8-8 effort.

Ipswich got 32 set assists from Olivier and Geditz, two.

Ipswich claimed 86 defensive digs led by Bierman with 25 and Geditz with 22.

The Tigers were scheduled to play in Warner on Tuesday. Thursday they will host Northwestern. Then the Tigers will host an invitational tourney in Ipswich on Saturday, Sept. 18. Ipswich will travel to Gettysburg to play Potter County on Sept. 21.
