Tiger girls' basketball team starts season at home

December 1, 2021

The Ipswich girls' basketball program went from graduating a ton of seniors including NSU prospect Halle Heinz to having no seniors so far this season.

But they will be led by four juniors, alphabetically Katie Bierman, Baylee Kulesa, Quincy Olivier and Ashlyn Weig. Karlie Gohl is the lone sophomore, but there are four freshmen prospects. They are Reaghan Bowers, Sommer DeRaad, Rylee Kleffman and Kaylin Onken.

And there are a total of nine eighth graders who are participating in basketball this year which is definitely a good sign for the future. They include Nat Crissman, Ava Davis, Brianna Geditz, Madysn Gellhaus, Marley Guthmiller, Gracyn Kadlec, Charli Rawden, LaVayah Russell and Gabby Wald.

The Tiger girls will open their season on December 7 at home vs. Sully Buttes. Their first conference game will be on December 14, also at home vs. North Central. (Their first road game will be on December 11 vs. Hitchcock-Tulare.)

The season will progress towards the regionals which are scheduled to begin on February 21. Tiger fans will be able to view the Tiger girls on their home floor a total of 10 different nights.

The Tigers are coached by Brian Hogie assisted by Dan Knust.
