On February 4 Ipswich/Bowdle competed in Warner for a quadrangular wrestling dual matches between Potter County, Warner/ Northwestern, and Britton/Hecla.

Potter County won the dual vs the Tigers 42 to 30. The Tigers won two of the three matches where both teams had wrestlers, but gave up six forfeits for 36 of the 42 points the Battlers scored.

Warner/Northwestern won 30 to 18 in a rematch of Thursday night, as the Tigers had two additional open weight classes Friday night. There were scoring errors on Track Wrestling so the actual team score for that dual was unknown at this time. Tanner Frickson, Grant Weisser, Kaydn Weisser and Justin Rohrbach all had pin victories in the dual.

Britton/Hecla and I/B tied with 30 points each. "We had six pins they had one and five forfeits," said Coach Naasz. "In a tie breaker forfeits count for more than pins."

"I felt that our athletes came together at the LRC and we wrestled very well. We had some of our younger athletes step up and get some big wins," said Naasz. "Friday the guys wrestled hard. We won most of the matches but because of giving up forfeits we ended up losing the duels."

The wrestling team was scheduled to compete February 8 in Highmore. Participating teams in the triangular were the host team Miller/Highmore-Harrold, as well as Ipswich/Bowdle and Sully Buttes. Then I/B will look forward to the Region Tournament in Britton on February 19 to determine who will qualify for the State Wrestling Tournament February 24-26 in Sioux Falls.
