The Region 1B Wrestling Tournament was held Saturday, Feb. 18 in Britton.

The Ipswich/Bowdle Tigers had seven athletes compete with five placing and three qualifying for the State Tournament in Sioux Falls on February 24-26. Tanner Frickson placed second, and Brady Unser and Kadyn Weisser placed fourth to qualify for the State B. The top four in each weight class advance to the State Tournament.

Grant Weisser and Marcus Hofer placed sixth. Beau Schilling and Justin Rhorbach also wrestled but did not place.

Redfield won the 1B Tournament earning 208.5 points. Clark/Willow Lake was second with 146 points.

113 - Brady Unser - Fourth place - won by major decision over Zane Miller (SV) 16-3; lost by tech fall to Gannon Gilligan (KC) 16-0; won by tech fall over Rylan Yonker (H/C) 17-1; lost to Nicholas Schlachter (PC) 6-2 (12.5 team points)

132 - Tanner Frickson - Second place - received a bye; won over Jaxon Quail (D)11-5; won by fall over Parker Geditz (FA) 4:45; lost by major decision to Dylan Zell 21-9 (KC) (20 team points)

138 - Beau Schilling lost by fall to Caden Wilson (FA) 3:03; received a bye; lost by tech fall to Luke Steffensen (KC) 16-0

195 - Kadyn Weisser - Fourth place - won by fall over Mason Gray 1:31; lost by tech fall to Sean Domke (R) 18-2; won by fall over Cole Wilkie (W/N) 1:49; lost by decision to Justin Granum (D) 9-5

The Ipswich School will have a send off for the wrestlers at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday with students lining the hallways. Tanner, Brady and Kadyn will leave for Sioux Falls on Wednesday with wrestling starting Thursday morning at 9 a.m. with coverage from SDPBS online live coverage.
