Fiddlin' Around

Two recent “special” events were Donut Day and 605 Day. The latter on June 5 was unique to our state because it is our telephone system Area Code and one of the few states that have the same area code all across the entire state.

I don't know and maybe you do — do our neighbors to the north have all the same area code (701)? Something to look up on the internet, I guess! The South Dakota Department of Tourism encouraged local businesses, chambers of commerce and unique South Dakota tourist attractions to get involved with their own special promotions, etc. on that day.

Before that, though, was Donut Day on June 3. That is self-explanatory and we hope that you all remembered to buy some doughnuts that day. We did! And maybe you did exactly the same thing, at the very least getting the plain old unfrosted doughnuts not even with any sugar. Probably just a little healthier and just as tasty in their own way.

An upcoming holiday that is not made up, though, is Flag Day on June 14 everywhere in the good old USA. So be sure to fly your flags high and proud that day!
