Patty J. Blumhardt

 


Patty J. Blumhardt, 73, Leola, funeral services were July 6, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hosmer with Rev. David Peterson officiating.

Patty died Friday, July 1, 2022 at her residence in Roscoe.  Interment was in the Bethany Cemetery in Hosmer.

Patty Jean Blumhardt (Gienger) was born on January 22, 1949 to Reinhold and Martha Gienger. On that day the world was blessed with a little more kindness. Patty was a kind and loving soul to anyone she met. Her main focus was her family, God and service to others.

She met Darvin Blumhardt during their high school years and they were married on May 31, 1969. After she had completed, her cosmetology training at Stewarts in Aberdeen. This union was blessed with two children, Stacey and Darek, who were the love and center of her life.

Patty worked in Leola for a number of years with Vivian Reeb as a beautician prior to her and Darvin taking over the family farm. She loved the peaceful farm life. She and Darvin also had a woodcraft business for about 25 years where they met many wonderful people. Patty had a special creative style and Darvin did the carpentry.

Patty will be remembered for her kindness, care giving and ability to listen and truly care for others. She will be missed as a wife, mother, sister and friend.

Those who were blessed to share her life are her husband, Darvin Blumhardt; daughter, Stacey Blumhardt-Howell her husband Steven; and son, Darek Blumhardt and his wife Dixie; her brothers, Delbert Gienger and Wesley Gienger (Sherry); sisters, Leila Maule (Charles) and Donna Huber (Joel).

Patty was preceded in death by her mother Martha on Sept. 16, 2014; her father Reinhold on Oct. 25, 1998 and sister-in-law Darlene Gienger on Sept. 4, 2014.

A memorial has been established to the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hosmer.

The organist was Wesley Schaible. Ushers were David Eisenbeisz, Kathy Opp, Wesley Gienger, and Delbert Gienger.

Pallbearers were James Schaible of Hosmer, Trevor Schaible of Hosmer, Bryan Huber of Milbank, David Gienger of Hosmer, Steven Howell of Aberdeen, Gervase Imberi of Eureka.
