Elizabeth "Beth" Pond

Elizabeth "Beth" Ann Pond, 79, of Ipswich, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

The Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m., October 29, 2022, at the Ipswich United Church of Christ, Ipswich. Pastor Tim Fugman will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the service at the church hall. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Powell.

Elizabeth "Beth" Ann Pond was born May 15, 1943, to Alex and Ellen (Williams) Pond in Aberdeen, and was raised on the family farm in Powell Township. She attended rural school before graduating from Ipswich High School. Beth then attended SDSU in 1965 and received her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics. After teaching for a number of years, Beth continued her education and received two Master's Degrees in Home Economics and Education/ Counseling from SDSU.

She taught in Ortonville, Minn., Roscoe, Huron, Highmore, and Aberdeen. Beth returned to Ipswich in 1985 to care for her mother. She also worked at the Ipswich Nursing Home as a Dietary Supervisor for 11 years.

Beth was a loyal 4-H member. In 1968, she became a member of the International 4-H Youth Exchange (IFYE) through which she served as a representative to the United Kingdom.

Beth was a member of the Powell Presbyterian Church, the United Church of Christ in Ipswich, IFYE Alumni Association of the USA, and a member of the PEO, Chapter BB. She enjoyed music and traveling. Beth toured Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the Netherlands, as well as many destinations within the United States.

Beth is survived by her siblings, Robert Pond of Ipswich and Roland (Rita) Pond of Aberdeen, and Mary Ellen (Robert) Manthei of Rochester, Minn .; and several nieces and nephews.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Evelyn "Evie" Pond.
