Fiddlin' Around

November 16, 2022

Two area  nine-man high school football teams lost their Dome appearances last weekend, Herreid/ Selby Area  to Hitchcock-Tulare which would actually be yet another area team themselves in 9B, while Warner was defeated by Gregory in Class 9A.

Meanwhile, Wall remained undefeated in Class 9AA, the big schools league.

Starting in 11-man with a 11B showdown Elk Point Jefferson was able to remain undefeated in their first-ever trip to the Dome vs. Winner which nearly always wins in the Dome but not this year. Class 11A won by Dell Rapids over West Central, and Pierre would claim its sixth straight Dome title vs. Tea Area this time around in 11AA. The biggest 11-man league was won by Sioux Falls Jefferson (11AAA) over Harrisburg. The S.F. Jefferson's mascot is a Cavalier and they wear green just like the Roncalli Cavs who didn't quite make it to the Dome this year. Let's just say Saturday was a good day to be a green-clad fan if you liked Pierre and Sioux Falls Jefferson.

Now for this upcoming volleyball action, neither Region 6 B team Herreid/Selby Area or Faulkton, the  parallel bracket champs were able to advance to the state finals. (Northwestern actually defeated Faulkton and the Warner Monarchs also advanced.)
