We are quickly approaching mid-January, believe it or not! And that means that a federal Monday holiday will be observed on January 16 — Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

And there are plenty of sports events remaining in January. And probably even more in February which will mark the start of the annual winter sports post-season events around the state.

So keep your fingers crossed that more really nasty weather will not interfere with our remaining area events, not just those that involve athletics and athletes.

Remember there will be no mail on Monday. Keep that in mind if you are sending it...
