I/B wrestler earns sixth place

Ipswich/Bowdle wrestler Lucas Rowland placed sixth at the Boys State B Wrestling Tournament last week in Rapid City.

I/B received 15 points for 32nd place. Canton won the Boys B division with 163.5 points. Winner was second.

In the B-285 division Rowland won by fall over Jaden Richter of Garretson (3.28). Then he pinned Isaac Nehlich of Tri-Valley in 2:35. Then he faced the eventual division winner, Traun Cook of Canton. Cook won by major decision 11-2. Then Rowland faced the two wrestlers he met earlier. First Richter won by decision 3-2. In the fifth place match, Nehlich won by decision 3-1. Rowland scored 11 team points.

Kadyn Weisser, wrestling in the B-220 division, was pinned by Kade Grocott of McCook Central/ Montrose (3:28). Then Weisser won by fall over Parker Mathis of Winner Area (1:42). Grey Gilbert won by major decision, 10-1. Weisser earned 3 team points.

Justin Rohrbach (B-182) was pinned by Josh Merkle of Canton in the first round (3:13). Rohrbach won by decision, 13-8, over Ethan Hess of Lead-Deadwood. Then Rohrbach was pinned by Ryder Bailey of Custer (1:52).
