Karin Aman

 

Karin Aman, 81, Hosmer, died Thursday, April 27, 2023 at the Avera Eureka Healthcare Center, Eureka, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hosmer, led by Pastor Janet Sandmeier. Interment follows at Bethany Cemetery, Hosmer.

Karin Ona Monson, daughter of Edna (Likness) and Benjamin Monson, was born December 2, 1941 in Webster. She was raised in Langford and graduated from Langford High School, Class of 1959. She then moved to Aberdeen where she was employed at the Brown County Clerk of Courts office. Karin married Curtis Ronald Aman on February 2, 1963 in Aberdeen. Curtis's career as a teacher had them moving to Roslyn and Bristol. They settled in Hosmer in 1977.

Karin worked as a daycare provider, bookkeeper, and homemaker while raising her four children. She was known for her kind smile, hard work ethic, and making a homemade meal every Sunday after church.

Karin was an avid reader and enjoyed her weekly coffee/book club with her many friends. She was a very active mom and grandma, never missing a sporting or school event for any of her children or grandchildren. She and Curt enjoyed traveling and visiting casinos.

Karin is survived by Curtis, her husband of 60 years; two sons, Jeffrey (Jane) Aman of Hosmer and Shane (Crystal) Aman of Renner; one daughter, Dawn (Brad) Elshere of Watertown; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Aaron) Roth, Cody (Joan) Aman, Angela (Craig) Malsom, Brady Aman, Ethan Aman, Rylan Aman, Emmie Elshere, Kennan Aman, and Jack Elshere; four great-granddaughters, Grace, Lily, and Vayda Roth and Evelyn Malsom; one brother, Roland Monson of St. Louis, Mo .; one sister, Donna Burns, of Indianapolis, Ind .; sister-in-law, Faye Jones of Ipswich; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bennie, on May 15, 1993; her mother, Edna, on August 12, 1999; daughter, Kari Breske, on October 13, 2015; sister, Betty Wirth; parents-in-law, Selma and Albert Aman; brothers-in-law, Dennis Burns and Dick Jones; and sister-in-law, Jean Monson.

Casketbearers will be grandsons, Cody, Ethan, Brady, Rylan, Kennan, and Jack.

Ushers will be David Eisenbeisz and Kathy Opp. Musicians will be Wesley Schaible and Joyce Heyne.
