Fiddlin' Around

There is more high school sports to mention in this column again this week, even though the 2022-23 school year has ended.

You guessed correctly that I would congratulate the newly-crowned Ipswich boys track and field team that indeed tied with Gregory with 54 team points apiece. Things were that close all three days of the State B boys event.

Meanwhile the IHS girls would finish in eighth place exactly landing in the top eight. So they did OK as well.

And congratulations to the Edmunds Central and Ipswich boys golfers who will both be competing in their upcoming State B golf tourney in Watertown. on June 5-6.

The Raider boys were second only to Sully Buttes in the recent regional team standings, so both of those teams get to advance their entire teams intact to the state event. And while Ipswich was only third in the regional team standings the Tigers still came away with four individual golfers advancing out of the region.

Now there will be some traditional summer sports and most if not all of them utilize balls of some sort. However that won't be the case if you happen to see a runner or two already practicing for the upcoming cross country season. It will be arriving rather quickly as it always does!
