James Allen Jones was born on the family farm in 1934 to George and Christine (Olson) Jones. Not only was he born there and lived there his whole life, but it is also where he passed away. When he was young, Jim attended a country school then later attended Cresbard School graduating from Cresbard High School.

Jim was a farmer at heart. His passions encompassed his life on the farm. His dogs were like family to him and accompanied him everywhere he went. He also shared a love for his cats. He enjoyed the comradery of the neighbors, discussing the ins and outs of farming, working cattle, and grain farming. There were many long discussions about semi-trucks. Jim had a passion for them, especially Peterbilt trucks.

Every morning he would have coffee with his neighbors in the Holsing shop. They were family to him and he was loved as part of the family as well. Jim also had many friends he loved deer hunting with. He would teach the young boys how to hunt using clay pigeons and share his vast knowledge of the sport with them. Jim loved hunting deer and pheasant on his farm. One of his favorite hunting trips was going out to the Black Hills with the Powell hunting group. They would sit and talk for hours telling stories of their escapades and exciting encounters.

Not only did Jim enjoy the sport, but he also had a passion for guns. He spent many hours attending gun shows and was a part of the NRA. Jim also enjoyed old cars and stock cars, and on many Friday nights, you could find him at the stock car races with friends enjoying the races. Jim was active in serving his country and community.

He served his country at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois being deployed to Germany and France as an airplane mechanic. He served his community as a member of the Powell Grazing Association, the Kent Township Board, and the Ipswich Gun Club. He was loved by his family, friends, neighbors, and community alike and will be missed.

Jim is survived by many extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Merritt Jones; and sister Marian Jones.

Schriver Funeral Home, 720 6th St N, Ipswich, is in charge of arrangements.
