Genevieve "Jenny" Haar

Mass of Christian Burial for Genevieve "Jenny" Haar, 94, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2023, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Ipswich, with Fr. Timothy Cone serving as Celebrant.  Burial will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Liturgical Wake Service at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Schriver Funeral Home, 720 N 6th Street, Ipswich.  Visitation continues Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church. 

Genevieve "Jenny" Haar was born July 18, 1929, to Conrad and Helen (Gabriel) Sahli in Aberdeen.

On July 26, 1949, she married Gerhart (Gary) Haar and was blessed with four children: David, Roger, Susan and Mary.

While raising her family, Jenny provided childcare for many years, and then went to work at the Ipswich Public School as a cook's assistant for 32 years.

She enjoyed playing cards and fishing in her spare time and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Holy Cross Altar Society, and St. Gerard's Study Club.

Jenny passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab in Aberdeen.

Jenny is survived by her children, David Haar and Joanie of Hettinger, N.D., Roger Haar of Lakefield, Minn., and Mary Roth of Roscoe; sister-in-law, Gertie Hopfinger; her grandchildren, Tara Haar, Travis (Christal) Haar, Corey (Marsha) Haar, Troy (Rachel) Haar, Kelli (Chad) DeCook, Greg (Katie) Roth, Aaron (Jenny) Roth and Kati (Louie) Jung and her special grandchildren, Donna (Gisi) Schmitt, Karen (Gisi) Dixon, Dale Gisi as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jenny is preceded in death by her husband, Gary (2008); daughter, Susan (1988); her parents and her siblings.

Schriver Funeral Home of Ipswich is honored to serve the Haar family.
