The funeral service of Peggy J. Jung was 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hosmer with Pastor Janet Sandmeier officiating the service. Burial was at Bethany Cemetery, Hosmer following the funeral service.

A time of fellowship and luncheon followed the burial service at the church hall.

Visitation was Monday, December 11, 2023, at Schriver Funeral Home, Ipswich with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Peggy Jean Jung was born November 26, 1938, to Fred and Clara (Guthmiller) Schumacher on the farm southeast of Hosmer. She grew up there and attended eight years of rural school before attending high school in Hosmer, graduating in 1956. After graduation, she lived in Aberdeen for a short period of time where she worked for a dry cleaner.

On December 29, 1957, Peggy was united in marriage to LeRoy Jung. She joined him in Germany where he was stationed. Following his discharge in 1959, they returned to his family farm nine miles east of Hosmer, where they raised three boys: Glenn, Joe, and Louie.

Peggy was a homemaker and helped on the farm for many years. She worked for the Bowdle Nursing Home and Hosmer Nursing Home for more than 20 years as a very caring caregiver.

Due to declining health in 2019, Peggy became a resident of the Avera Health Care Center in Eureka, until the time of her death on Sunday, December 3, 2023.

Peggy is survived by her husband of almost 66 years, LeRoy; sons, Glenn (Theresa) Jung of Roscoe, Joe (Michelle) Jung of Leola and Louie (Kati) Jung of Roscoe; five grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 10 great-grandchildren with another on the way in March of 2024; sister, Verdella Gross; and many nieces and nephews.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother in-law Inez and Jim Kramer, and brother-in law, Marvin Gross.

Schriver Funeral Home was honored to serve the Jung family.
