Rogers Circle Gives Fancy Costume Party

The Rogers Circle gave a fancy costume party at the home of Mrs. Robert Hill, Tuesday evening.

The costumes were many and varied, some were beautiful, others humorous and old fashioned. The occasion was one of extreme merriment.

Prizes were given for a number of things. Mrs. E. C. Salter and Mrs. O. O. Sharp dressed as the Gold Dust Twins won first prize for the best costumes; Edith Benson, 2nd. She impersonated a man and Miss Lola Olson, 3rd as Aunt Dinah.

Mrs. E. G. Jackson dressed a clothes pin with crepe paper in the most becoming manner and received a prize.

Mrs. Marvin Fear as a little girl won the prize for the prettiest costume and Pearl Hurlbut, second.

Mrs. H. L. Woodworth proved her talent as a poet and received a prize.

A number of objects placed on a platter was suggestive of a dinner menu. Mrs. H. W. Hembd guessed the most of them correctly. For this she was given a ring. This called for a mock wedding and it was staged to the delight of guests.

Spanish costumes, gypsy garb, colonial dresses, Little Red Riding Hood outfit, Sonny Boy, clowns and countless others enlivened the gay throng.

The committee, Mrs. W. S. Hagen, Mrs. Robert Hill, Mrs. E. H. Miller, Grace Fessenden, Anna Berg and Mrs. John Arnold served a lunch of pineapple and cheese salad, rolls, cream puffs and coffee.

The guests were asked to register as they entered the house. Each tried to write her name with a rubber pencil and was April fooled. The prizes given were April Fool surprises.

It was a great party-at least laugh provoking and a gloom chase.
