Across the prairies and fields of South Dakota, shelterbelts play an important role in providing wind protection to farmsteads, fields, livestock, and wildlife. These groves of trees aid in caring for our natural resources by slowing erosion and storing water. Many of the shelterbelts in the area have degraded plant health due to age, disease, and extreme weather conditions. Florence/Henry Invite The Ipswich Tiger boys' golf team attended and won a recent Florence/Henry Invitational at the Prairie Winds Country Club on May 11. The Tigers edged runners-up Webster 257 to 259, while Arlington was third at 277. Ipswich's Chet Peterson was individually second only to the host team's Logan Vavruska by a single stroke 80 to 81.The Tigers' next scorer would be Jace Konsor in fourth at 84. Monday, May 8 was the opening nignt for men’s 14” slowpitch softball in Aberdeen. The Ken’s Super Fair Foods/ Lux Candle Company team took the mound against Splitters of Warner.
