The 2021 State B high school golf tournaments concluded last Tuesday in Brookings with Chester emerging as the boys' team champion over Platte-Geddes by two strokes and Estelline/Hendricks won the girls' team event, also defeating runner-up Bison by a pair of strokes.

The girls' medalist was Miller's Jayce Pugh with her 158 and the runners-up were Allison Kahler of Bison and Kaylee Johnson of Estelline/Hendricks, tied at 161. Ipswich's lone girls' entrant Halie Feldman carded a 186 in a 19th-place tie. (Edmunds Central didn't qualify any girls for the state meet this year.)

The individual boys' champion proved to be Brody Boltjes of Platte-Geddes, edging Faulkton's own Bennett Cassens by one stroke - 152 to 153.

Ipswich placed seventh as a boys' team, led by Luke Peterson's 12th and Chet Peterson's 25th. Their third scorer in that event was Matthew Jaenisch earning a tie for 72nd and Jace Konsor rounded out the Tigers' effort with his 109th placement.

Meanwhile Edmunds Central did not have enough golfers for the boys' team standings, but was represented by Cole Bukaske in 114th.

There were 119 total boys, who finished the event.
