Aberdeen Christian champions of Ipswich tourney

Ipswich hosted a Subway Invitational high school volleyball tournament last Saturday in the Tiger Den. It was a busy day indeed with action in both gyms.

Ipswich ended up in fifth this year thanks to a 2-1 fifth place win over Herreid/Selby Area in their placement match.

Aberdeen Christian won the event 2-0 over Kimball/White Lake. And Langford Area topped Milbank 2-1 for third. The seventh place game was won by Lemmon over Leola/Frederick Area.

Ipswich placed two players on the All-Tournament Team - Katie Bierman and Madison Geditz. So did Aberdeen Christian, who went undefeated in the tourney.

In the placement game Ipswich won 25-13, but lost 25-19 in the second game vs. HSA. The Tigers regrouped to win 26-24.

Bierman was 7 of 10 in serving with three aces, while Ipswich was 54-63 overall with six aces. (Gracie Lange went 12-12 with one ace.)

Ipswich was 93-106 at the net with 21 kills led by Lange 19-19 with seven kills, Bierman 27-30 with seven kills and Quincy Olivier 25-31 with three kills.

Ipswich had a perfect 103-103 setting effort led by Olivier 50-50 with 10 assists. (Ipswich totaled 16 assists.) Bierman also went 29-29 with five assists.

Ipswich had opened with a 2-0 sweep of Leola/Frederick Area (25-19, 25-20). The Tigers were 58-67 at the net with 20 kills led by Lange 17-22 with eight kills, Vanesa Diaz 5-5 with five kills and Olivier 13-13 with three kills.

In set assists they were led by Olivier with 14. Ipswich totaled 60 sets led by Olivier with 51 and the Lady Tigers totaled 16 assists.

Ipswich had 33 accurate serves with 11 aces led by Olivier 8-8 with two aces and Baylee Kulesa 6-8 with three aces. Diaz and Olivier each had a block assist and there were 39 digs led by Bierman with 14 and Kulesa with eight.
