Local wrestlers begin season Saturday at Stanley County

December 1, 2021

The 2021-22 Ipswich/ Bowdle high school wrestling program will begin on December 4 with a road trip to Stanley County.

And the Tigers are hoping to build on the foundation they laid last season under coach Todd Naasz. He will be assisted by Lane Peterson this year.

There are three juniors on the roster: Tanner Frickson, Brady Unser and Grant Weisser. Other team members are sophomore Kadyn Weisser; freshmen Marcus Hofer, Justin Rohrbach and Beau Schilling; and seventh grader Clayton Horst.

They will have a pair of home appearances first on January 13 and then the LRC get-together that's scheduled for February 3.

Before that though their annual trip to nearby Faulkton is set for December 11, followed by a tourney in Plankinton on the 18th to complete the pre-holiday portion of their schedule. (Their initial 2022 mat action is planned for January 8 in Miller.)

The season will progress along towards Region 1B action that is to be hosted by Britton-Hecla on February 19 and the State B will be in Sioux Falls on February 24-26.
